Editor - Gloria Almada

Gloria Almada has been a video editor and an active part of the film community in Chicago since 1988. During that time she won two Emmy awards from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her work on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Gloria's editing work can be seen on PBS, A&E and The History Channel. Her unique approach to storytelling through editing has attracted such notable directors as Joe Sedelmaier for his commercials and Spike Jonze for his music videos.   In 2002, Gloria edited the short documentary Johnnie's, which was shown at the Full Frame Festival.

From 1987 to 1989, Gloria studied film and editing at Columbia College in Chicago and then went on to work at Editel/Chicago. During that time, she had the opportunity to study feature film editing with Ralph Rosenblum, editor of The Producers and Annie Hall.  In 2002, she opened Almada Films in Chicago, where she edits and post-produces documentary and commercial projects.

Outside of her work as an editor, Gloria teaches a course on "The Sound of Documentary" at Columbia College. She has served as a juror for the Third Coast International Audio Festival and the Chicago Children's International Film Festival. In 2003, she was a presenter at the Adobe Achievement Awards in the area of Digital Media.
